EXPLORING THE USE OF VIDEO AS A CHOREOGRAPHIC STRATEGY

A HOME RESIDENCY MADE POSSIBLE THROUGH A RADF/MBRC* CONTINUING CREATING GRANT 2020.

*The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Moreton Bay Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.

Welcome,

My name is Emma Wilson and I am a choreographer, facilitator, curator and writer based in the Moreton Bay Shire, North West of Brisbane, Australia.

This blog will document my explorations into intersections between choreographic and screendance practices over the next couple of months.

The use of video as a choreographic tool is new to me, recently discovered during the isolation period of COVID19. It brought me great joy to experiment with video and I can see me my artistic practice expanding into new directions. There is so much I am looking forward to exploring, and many inspiring screen dance artists to learn from.

I will be sharing my insights, discoveries, stumbling blocks and questions along the way through my own reflections and dialogues with my mentor Dianne Reid (ultra experienced artist and Dr of Screendance). This is the place to be to see all the content produced (I will be directing people here from my Facebook and Twitter pages), and if you want to follow realtime interactions between Dianne and myself this can be viewed on Twitter. Scroll on down to follow the blog posts.

Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you back here!

X Emma
